Red Wing Shoes
The rubber super sole was chosen for its exceptional slip resistance. These are my go-to hard-work boots for hot weather. The outsole design keeps moisture from getting into the boot below the gusset. I bought these before I knew much about welted boots and assumed these had a gyw. After having them for around a year I can say RedWing tries to size small in stores. Their foot scanner wasn't as helpful as personal research and they claimed to do inhouse work for their product but I dont belive them. In the future I will have to send these somewhere for a resole.
These run narrow and you will feel it after 6hrs. I used the foot scanner in-store and then tried the next size up/down. They didn't have proper widths available for me to try in-store. I modified the gusset above the instep ankle, removing small slivers of leather to avoid overlapping the gusset and vamp on the point of my ankle during the first few weeks. The laces that come with these boots also were not suitable for me, as they have a smooth outer shell and were too thin. It felt like weirs were constricting my foot instead of laces. Deffinitly keep a spair set on hand during the workday to swap to if your foot has a higher volume.
