Horween Color 8 Shell Cordovan
The Dome Days are Long but the Months are Short This pair of Alden x Ealdwine Raleigh Color 8 Horween Shell Cordovan Tanker Boots have been with me for 144 days across 5 months, been to 3 weddings in 2 countries, were caught in 3 rain storms, stood on 2 rooftops and have perfectly moulded to 1 pair of feet. I embarked on this journey into the Patina Thunderdome on a bit of a whim. I’d recently created my Cordovan and Creases IG account and in the process of discovering the fantastic shoe, boot & men’s fashion community that exists online, I stumbled upon this competition. After misreading the photo instructions and wearing my first pair of Dome boots (Cordovan AE Dalton’s) without taking the secret code photo, I called Matt at Ealdwine Raleigh who rushed me the pair of Aldens you see before you. I’d wanted another pair of cordovan Alden’s for a while so this was the perfect excuse. In an effort to get as much wear-time in as possible, I took them everywhere. Even if I was planning on wearing other shoes on a trip, these came along and often won the spot on my feet. While a lot of people will clutch their pearls and gasp at the thought of wearing cordovan Alden’s on a hike in Joshua Tree, to the beach for our first set of family photos, to countless 20K+ step days at Disneyland, and in 3 Southern California rainstorms, these did all of that and more – and they came out looking spectacular. Much to my wife’s dismay, these boots sit next to my home-office desk rather than in the closet and are always at the ready for wherever I’m headed. In a relatively short period of time, I’ve lived a life with them and have made more memories with these on my feet than possibly any other pair I own. Cheers to the Dome and the great team of people who thought up this not-so-crazy idea. Because of you, I’ve pushed myself to really live in and care for these boots in a uniquely special way.
