Background I first was introduced to Nathan through my friend Giovanni(Wyatt, if you’re reading this Gio deserves a nice pat on the back for all he does for the community) and we quickly added him to our group chat and became good friends. I wouldn’t be lying if I said we didn’t take advantage of Nathan to ask him to make us things when he’s between formal orders. It’s been a really fun time asking him to make us the most ridiculous things as a joke and also awesome to share with him our experiences in his boots. I actually visited Nathan during our cross country move and got to see his set-up, my boots in progress and generally just geek out over the whole thing. When deciding on the specs we took his stock Milton pattern and went a bit outside of the norm and gave it a slight boondocker spin which gave Nathan a chance to try something new and gave me a super unique pair. We decided on some nice C.F. Stead coffee suede for the tongue and Dr. Sole cork sole & trooper heel combo. All in all I think they came together really nicely with my only issue being my choice in sole. I stupidly picked one with no tread which has been an issue this winter with the snow but I’ve pushed through and made it work without any broken bones. For care I usually take a “live and forget” approach with non dress footwear. I’ll wipe them off if they get muddy, let them dry if they get soaked before wearing again and maybe hit them with a brush once every week to get dust from the dry Colorado weather off. Other than that I just kinda live in them and not think much about it. Throughout the dome I applied conditioner to them 3 times, the last time being at the very end for photos and because they needed it. I used the Brass Tokyo delicate cream for this which has a nice blend of waxes and conditioner. In all, I feel completely blessed to have been able to represent a friend and their amazing work. The competition may be finished but these will never be far from reach!
