Horween Natural Dublin
What can be said about a pair of boots? These Nicks Prospectors made with gorgeous Horween Natural Dublin leather are a fantastic example of how good a pair of boots can be. The Prospector is a formidable boot made with Nicks 67 last. The 67 last has a classic sprung toe. Which is significant in my opinion. It is quite possibly more sprung than I was the first time I watched Salma Hayek’s Snake Dance scene in the movie From Dusk Till Dawn! The lowered heel does a good job of literally grounding the boots aesthetics and contributes to a slightly less utilitarian vibe. The Horween Natural Dublin leather (much like the boot itself) has an elegant beauty to its utilitarian function. Dublin leather is serious stuff and shows all that great leather character from the hide it came from. These are pretty rad boots and it’s been a joy to wear them. And wear them I have! To work and sitting outside smoking a cigar. To many a whiskey tasting or bottle share. To Disneyland with my family or Universal Studios for my Son’s 8th birthday. These boots have been on my feet for the majority of the last 7 months. They were in fact on my feet when I made perhaps one of the smartest decisions I’ve ever made and proposed to my now fiancé. A significant and beautiful memory and I will remember that I was wearing my Nick’s. So what then CAN be said about a pair of boots? It seems odd to the average person to state they have an emotional attachment to some kind of footwear. But to us enthusiasts, it’s very real. I love these boots because they supported me in some of the most important times of my life. And it just so happens a major life milestone was achieved while wearing them. So I guess you can say that these boots are…. family. At least in some unique way. Cheers to fantastic footwear and cheers to completing the second Stitchdown Patina Thunderdome!
