Horween Brown Waxed Flesh
These boots were worn most days in October and then not as much as the cold weather required insulation when working outside. Whenever I worked from home inside I would wear them once or twice a week and on weekends when cleaning/etc around the house. I did clean them after most wears with a horsehair brush and cleaned with saddle soap and conditioned the vamp lightly in November prior to traveling for deer camp and Thanksgiving. They were my only footwear besides hunting boots and house slippers for the trip so I wanted to ensure my feet stayed dry in snow/slush or whatever conditions I encountered. I also wore these during travels around Christmas/New Years. In January I finally got a cortisol injection for foot pain at the base of my second metatarsal joint that had been bothersome since May. So for about a month these got little wear as I limited any stressors while standing, only wearing them on computer heavy work from home days once a week or so. For their last wear during these wild temperature swings of March I got them back outdoors, for a walk with my dog, where they will be in many future wears. The lowered heel on the 67 last is truly utilitarian compared to the higher heel IMO. These are my first pair of Nicks which had modified uppers which brough my top eye apart and kept the upper spacing almost even from first eye to top eye. That made these much essier to break in and more comfortable on my skinny ankles. Thanks to Nicks for doing this on these and the ones I have on order. These boots will join the ranks of my other work boots as the weather continues to warm and the snow disappears one of these days and I look forward to see what they look like in the months and years moving forward. One suggestion for the dome would be to have a warmer months work version as well for us Northern climate folks (March thru October?).
