Seidel Black Oiled Congo Shrunken Bison Roughout
Welp, here we are, at the end of all things... I actually wasn't planning on entering the thunderdome this year, mostly out of trying to curb purchasing shoes for the sake of purchasing shoes. I have had an averaion to wearing black shoes/boots for a long time, I always felt like it would be too hard to coordinate outfits with. Then I stumbled upon these, the roughout, the brown welt/midsole, the wedge. Just the perfect casual black boot for my lifestyle. I just happened to get these right before the start of the dome, and knew going in that it would be a long shot, i mean c'mon, a black seidel roughout? These things would be indestructable. So I set about wearing them almost every day for 6 months. At first I second guessed wearing black shoes with any outfit, but by the end, they just felt like the natural partners to whatever i decided to wear. These things were worn for every occasion, weather, activity, you name it. Countless dog walks around the neighborhood, hikes, dates, outings with friends. Living in the finger lakes region of New York, these things have seen the whole spectrum of weather. Dry dusty hikes, trudging through feet of snow, splashing through downpours of rain. They took on everything and always lookes great afterwords. The care routine was almost always a quick brush, and they looked great. If they were caked in mud, i would take a wet washcloth to wipe it off, and that was it. The seidel bison roughout is super oily, and super flexible and soft. After a while, the high wear areas, mostly the toes and the heels, took on a oily shine. Some areas have really rough nap, others have been smoothed out through wear. After 6 months, the wedge sole has seen better days, as you can see from the heels. They have lost a bit of friction, but still work great for most situations. I've cycled in wears of my other shoes, and nothing can compare to the comfort of the wedge. These things are bulletproof, and will see years of wear to come! Cheers!
