S.B. Foot Briar Oil Slick
Hello Stitch Down Patina Thunder Dome! I would like to start out by saying thank you for putting on the Dome, I'm sure it was a huge undertaking! I was excited to get the opportunity to compete this year! This Journey actually started a long time ago in a sense. Allow me to explain myself. I've been wearing Red Wing 2970's a long time. When I received word they were no longer offering them in the USA, I went on a mission and purchased every size 11 1/2 and 12 in the Country (approx 12 pairs.) This is my last new pair and I figured it was fitting to go out with a bang. ( I will end up resoling probably 2 or 3 times by the time they are shot) I've gotten pretty good at preserving these beauties. I'm a welder by trade, going on 39 years. For those who might not be aware. The Engineer style of boots came about for welders, welding on Navy ships during the World Wars. If you've ever had hot molten slag run down the inside of your boot you'll find out the need to be able to kick your boot off in a hurry. (It has happened to me, a couple of times) So with that said, when you came out with the work class. I had to get in on the fun. I put this pair to work October 1st. With the exception of maybe 3 or 4 days, I've worn them every day. Mostly work , but when we didn't work 6 days a week. This was my weekend Crusier. I had fun coming up with the action photos. I launched them up in the air ( I'm sure looking like a dork in the back yard. Throwing them up in the air hoping to get the timing just right for the photo) As well as asking Shylo (A Weld Helper) to take a picture of me welding in my welding hooch. It was fun coming up with new ideas each month to submit. Who knows, maybe I'll have a new Engineer boot manufacturer to support in this year's Dome??? Congratulations on a successful tournament!!!! Thanks Gustave!
