More about this item

Started with the original RDT 180mm flat cotton lace, after 4 months they were suffering from speed-hook bites and one broke, then shortly after the 2nd went. Replaced with a new find, Senkels (from Austria) calf leather laces, stitched round a polyamide core. Reminiscent of James B Young’s stitched Kangaroo laces, but a closer and a bit less pricy. They look good to me and have performed excellently!

Multiple reasons (not in order of priority!): 1. Munson last, always a winner - comfortable & known sizing (with RDT) so a sure bet for 6 months wear. 2. I’ve got the 6” RDT Roots in Black, but the Brown and 8.5” were on my grail list! The extra height is a real winner, with my lumpy/bony ankles. 3. Serendipity - RDT via the Boot Shop had availability about 6 months before the Patina Thunderdome start - so the boots would arrive in good time for the competition. 4. Budget and family approval were gained 😉 5. The Boots needed to work for office, “occasions”, leisure (including the a bit mild hiking in the alps) in order to maximise use in the 6 month competition period, again the RDT Roots covered all points. 6. The only period of non-use was a week in Tenerife mountain biking on Teide (volcano) - when luggage constraints and limited use excluded them from the packing list

How I Sized

Sized in Person
Other

I’ve several pairs of boots on the Munson last and specifically have a similar pair from RDT - so last and sizing both a “known” factor and a significant factor in choosing these boots for the ‘Dome!

Already own several pairs on the Munson last - including other RDT boots, so sizing and last a “known” factor

Availability and timing was ideal for ordering in time for the dome. I’d had set up a notification for when these boots and leather/colour became available and the notification was luckily timed perfectly for the 2023/2024 Dome.
