Unlisted Leather
I got into leatherworking November of 2021 and as I grew into the craft I decided i wanted to venture into one of the more difficult things to make: shoes. This is technically the second pair that I have made but the first pair was barely shoe shaped, let alone wearable. I found this competition just as I started building them and it was great motivation to finish them by October 1st. I was super pleased with how they turned out. After joining the discord server I learned so much in the cordwaining thread that I just finished my 3rd pair-this time a pair of boots for my brother, and I am currently working on my 4th and 5th pair for my other brother and my self. I am grateful to have found this community and hope to compete in the upcoming years with boots that I build myself. This pair features an oil tanned hide from SB Foot that I got on an Instagram sale from District Leather Supply and a roughout suede from Maverick. They were originally leather soled but quickly got a DR Sole slapped on after slipping through the factory too many times. the pair has held up well apart from a few bits from our pet rabbit. they were far more comfortable than I expected them to be-being that they were only my second attempt. I kept the shoes oiled with neatsfoot applied about once every other month. I hope that the judged accept my humble offering for the 2023 dome.
