More about this item

Took me a while to make stitchdown construction shoes for the first time and I really enjoyed the process. Although much simpler than handwelting, it’s a lot of fun and very rewarding as well, everything looks clean and tidy. I made myself this pair for the office on Badalassi wax pull-up roughout and it looks beautiful; is it a luxurious waste, plain shameful or very cool to turn beautiful leather inside out? 🤣 what do you think? Lots of pattern work is required on simple patterns because you need to nail proportions and I am very happy with them. Mini-lug soles for the Norwegian winter and no metal other than the eyelets and some heel nails on this pair to avoid rust, I lemonwood-pegged the seat and used a wooden shank for the same reason (+ makes them airport friendly). I wore these shoes most days at work, took them through many airports, cities, train stations and through a Norwegian winter as much as I could 😀 couldn’t wear them when the snow was at knee height 🤣

Why I Own This

Custom
Workplace Needs
Style

I’ve been making my own shoes for a couple years now, started ok but I guess with a lot to me desires to be able to wear them to the office and look nice. On my last pair I finally decided this will be my work pair, I can do this! I can make them clean, stylish, cool and comfortable while keeping that “service boot” look but in a pair of derby shoes so I chose a roughout leather that matched everything and went for it! Pretty happy about the result and although I didn’t expect as much snow as it fell this year, they worked out perfectly!

How I Sized

Brannock Measurements

Modified Last

I have used this last a couple times so I modified it a bit to fit my shoe a bit better and also changed slightly the toe shape. The 2298 is quite sleek and I wanted the toe to be slightly more squared
