Unlisted Leather
'Twas a new adventure. I left Puerto Rico, the only home i knew for 32 yrs... Exactly on month after arriving to Virginia, the Dome began. It was a great way to tie in my new life adventure. These boots saw me walk and explore city centers, historic old town, water front views. They witnessed me diving head first into new culture and opportunities. Before the winter srason began, I had already introduced them to 7 different dog parks, and gone on 4 hikes, and 2 trails. I was unsure of how suede would manage. I wanted a pair that i wasnt afraid of "hurting". I didn't kick rocks, or drag them on my car. They didn't soak out in rain, or a river; and i surely didn't get enoigh snow to put them through the ringer. No, they just walked with me, providing stability on wherever i journeyed. About 2 months in, I hit them with a suede eraser, and a light brush (do you even brush suede? lol). I figured, it wont hurt them, ao why not. At around 6 werks after that, i gave them a generous coat of Bick #4. Again, do they need it, is it common? Perhaps not, but I had walked enough in them that i felt they could use a "spa day", a regeneration of some sorts. To my surprise, they looked fantastic! Sort of a rugged waxed commander leather. Ah, what havent they witnessed. A special romanticism develop, my birthday, and how to forget... Christmas eve flooding. I was arriving at my significant others place only to get a call that a pipe broke and her place was flooding. We spent the next 7 hrs or so mopping, drying, and salvaging all we could; and yes again, these booties were present to help navigate the situation. Ahh but alas, at almost 4.5 months in, they were on my feet as i dod the final walk-through, and purchased a home to call my own. The takeaway from this dome, as im sure with many others, its not the boot themselves, but what they represent when we look at them. To the outside eye, their worn and beat up. But to us Domer's, they are a reminder of where we've been.
