Horween Natural Chromexcel
There is not allot of room for personal style when you wear a uniform most of the time. But, I found the loophole... Footwear: Black, leather, with a toe capable of being polished, boot or "Trooper shoe" type. One pair of leather soled 1k mile boots and I was hooked. Soon after, I stumbled upon the first Thunderdome already underway and wanted in for round 2. As it drew closer, lead times and prices kept me away. But then, I saw the sale section of Brooklyn Clothing's website. One beautiful pair of White' MP boots in my size and I was in the game. Just before the start of the Thunderdome I was transferred from a uniform to a plain clothes position and my new pair of Natural Chromexcel boots were ready for everyday wear. Over the past six months, these boots have helped me carry everything from diving equipment for cave exploration to the kiddos for themepark trips. Almost all the time was spent in South Florida. With high humidity and temperatures commonly in the 80s, I'd say a fair amount of sweat contributed to the patina these have acquired. With the leather getting softer and softer everyday. I conditioned them most months. Primarily I used the boot oil I purchased from White's. One month (the pictures with the noticable shine) I gave Saphir Renovateur a try. For the final photos I hit them with a bit of netural polish to highlight the beauty of the leather. The area around the collapsed unstructured toes being my favorite. Over the course of the dome, I broke two pairs of leather laces. Of course the second lace popped the day I was taking the last photos. A bit of extra character for the judges to check out I guess. The only issue I've had was "user error". I kicked a concrete footing into position while building my kids a treehouse for Christmas, breaking the toe of the Dainte sole off in front of the sitches. A bit of shoe cement and it's doing fine. This is the only pair of "brown" boots I'm buying. They're perfect. ...color 8, hmm
