Grenson
Bobby
Mr. Porter
I wore these about 200 miles hiking over a little more than 2 months and wore them to the office maybe 15-20 times.
The uppers were extremely resilient. But they were still patina-ing well.
They fit fine.
The quality was straight up ass. After about 2-3 weeks they started hurting my feet --but under my foot. I thought maybe it was a fit issue. It wasn't. I *believe* it was the gemming just coming loose and creeping inside. There was just a hard strip that went around the entire boot. Initially this wasn't a big deal. But as I sunk into the boot more, this became EXTREMELY painful. It was like walking on Legos. I could barely walk the next day after wearing these boots. Oh, and, the welt stitches on the inside ball of both boots are loose and I can pull the welt off the boot.
This probably wasn't the 108, it's a different compound than the *real* lugs from vibram. But it's super nice
Defects happen. It's no big deal. What matters is how a company fixes those defects. I reached out to grenson with my concerns about these defects and they said it was A FEATURE of welted footwear. Bro what. I bought them from Mr Porter, so I hit them up too. They told me that this is normal wear and tear. I was going to weekend in bernys these to the end of the dome because the patina thunderdome is more about artistic expression than actual wear, but I care that much. Don't buy these. The dirndl + bua's on my profile are much better, but let in water. The steinkogler's are much better, but way more hard core than 95% of people need.
