They've been on my feet for everything I've done almost every day for the entire dome. From office to hiking to driving. Rain, mud, sunny days. I really haven't found an activity that these boots don't handle comfortably except maybe airport security.
The first thing I learned about this leather is that it loves the sun! There is a remarkable and fast darkening of the leather with enough sunlight. I even have tan lines under the straps. That evolution just keeps going as it ages, bringing out some The wild reverse side of the leather on the shafts is another matter entirely. They are crocking monsters and have really gone through some crazy evolution over the six months. For care, this leather seems to like mink oil based conditioners the most. After about the first two months, I conditioned them for the first time and then did so about every 3-5 weeks depending upon sun exposure. And of course brush brush brush.
I bought these boots true to size as recommended by S&S and it was the right move. Unsung provides a leather insert, which I used as I prefer a more snug fit. Not surprisingly with engineers, there was a little heel slip early on but that didn't last long. The last is really a good comfortable wear with no fatigue even during long days with many miles.
The craftsmanship and quality of work by the team at Unsung is as fine as any of the best boot makers in the world. I would be hard pressed to find a single thing to complain about. There is no question that I will be wearing these boots for the rest of my life and with good care they will hold up.
I feel that I was fortunate to have the opportunity to purchase these boots. They've been a pure pleasure to wear every day for the last six months and will absolutely be in my rotation forever. Thanks so much to Unsung, S&S, and our friend Charlie for giving me the opportunity!
