Nicks Handmade Boots
I was looking for a tuff comfortable high quality boot with lots of support and safety toe that would be good for a mix of indoor outdoor work in commercial refrigeration,HVAC and residential plumbing
I used the nicks sizing guide I'm normally a 13 so I went a half size down and it was right on
Used the nicks website picked my options overall pretty easy after doing some research
I use these in commercial refrigeration and HVAC service with some residential and plumbing mixed in. It's a mix of indoor and outdoor work lots of time on roofs and using ladders there is also a decent amount of driving time. I wear these pretty much everyday for every occasion they feel like they just keep getting better the comp toe has been great with my EE wide foot I haven't experienced any toe rub like I did with a steel toe pair I had.
The 1964 tan started out pretty stiff with a light tan color over the last six months they have taken on a nice light brown color and softend up nicely I cleaned and conditioned them twice with the nicks grease and just wore them normally after two weeks of wear it started to become pretty easy to wear I didnt switch boots during break in I just wore them every day and honestly it wasn't to bad for me the boots fit my foot very well I didn't get any hot spots or anything used the leather laces until they broke then switched out to ironlace I just brush them off as needed on a weekend here and there being that they are a lighter color they will show stains the stains that I have on mine are from dirty water from a boiler happened during a change out but to me that just adds character
The 55 last with comp toe has nice arch support has a good amount toe room and holds the foot well I don't get a lot of movement and is very comfortable for me
I really like the classic design of these even from a distance you can tell they aren't just some cheaper boot The construction is solid all stitching has held up excellent and the leather is tuff my feel well protected The finishing is what you would expect from a hand made boot you can see some differences between the two and I wouldn't want it any other way
I chose the honey sole because I work on mostly concrete and tile type floors and roofs I find that the softer honey sole gives me better comfort and traction on these surfaces the vibram black soles I've had on my other work boots felt more slippy on these surfaces but were great outdoors they have held up great for these six months and still have probably another six months to go
Ever since I got my first pair of nicks I've been hooked. I recommend them to the people I work with and around.
