My work is generally office based with occasional visits to construction sites in a sub tropical area. The shoellie fit my needs perfectly with it being rugged, well made, unlined, and not too chunky.
My previous Jim Green was a bit too small, before understanding heel to ball vs heel to toe brannock, so I chose 1 size up and the fit was perfect.
Very easy online purchase.
Mostly worn to work at the office and numerous visits to construction or pre-construction sites undertaking inspections on roads projects. Many kilometers walked in them on concrete, carpet, asphalt, gravel mud and open field areas in dry and wet conditions.
Fudge crazy horse held up extremely well with zero break-in period. Minor scratches brushed off easily. The oils in the leather allows easy removal scuffs. The leather developed patina, although not drastically. Care for the shoeliie included mainly brushing and one cleaning with a suede cleaner at the end of 6 months.
Sizing is very comfortable with adequate support and a roomy toe box without being too wide. Although, some sort of arch support will be a welcome addition, this can resolved with an insert. Overall very comfortable.
The almond shape of the ASHM last is pleasingly different from other Jim Green lasts. The shoellie is very well constructed and feels like it will last for many more years. The finishing can be improved.
Very comfortable and durable sole for average use. No issues with traction in wet conditions.
My experience with the Jim Green Shoellie has been great so far, it will continue to be my daily wear. It is comfortable and well made. Although I wish it was a little "prettier", it's perfect for use within an office and out in the fields. Definitely good value for money.
