I wanted to take a break from 8” lace up boots and I love the look of an engineer. I like the aesthetic of the straps and brass buckles and the ease of a pull on boot. The roughout leather is tough as nails for brewery and barrel work.
I went off my size in the 55 last. I probably should’ve went with an E width though.
Awesome. Easy. Relatively fast production.
I work for a brewery as the head of operations, maintenance, and our barrel aging program. I spend a lot of time working with barrels and fixing equipment and everything else around the brewery so they get beat up a bit from that. I also help the team in the cellar cleaning tanks, transferring beer, and packaging when necessary so these boots have seen a decent amount of water too. I wear raw denim jeans and as a result there is an insane amount of crocking that has turned from electric blue to the darkest deepest indigo. These boots have helped work around the family farm splitting wood and other projects. They have helped me keep up with a wild 2 year old boy that runs at a steady 5000 rpms. I’ve put these boots through the wringer the last 6 months and the leather is so tough that it doesn’t really show the abuse it’s been through.
Break in was effortless- they got soaked on the brewery and bent and stretched in all the right places. The lowers have darkened and have many “polished” spots. The uppers have turned into the most beautiful golden honey shade that i cannot stop staring at. The leather is super soft and pliable and perfectly formed to my foot- like a slipper. Obenaufs LP on the inside several times and brushing dirt on the outside has kept them very healthy.
Pretty comfortable. I prefer the arch support of the 55 last. I’ve ordered inserts from Nicks. I will also get the toe box stretched a touch when I send them in for a resole.
Nearly perfect- I just wish the shaft was just a bit slimmer.
Love it. Soft. No slip in constantly wet conditions.
These boots rule! They look insanely good and feel great. Love the slip on over lace. Can’t wait to resole them with a full 700 and get them back to work.
