This is my third pair of Nick's boots, overlanders and builder pros. I have a pair of Grant Stone Brass boots. I was wearing the overlanders and the builder pros alternating on weekends for the one job. The brass were for weekdays. I needed an alternate weekday boot and loved the meadow color so I got them in free range. These oak tanned leather insoles and proper arch support have eliminated my planar fasciitis.
I measured my foot and used a brannock device. Then went with guidance from various reddit posts.
Easy to order and got it very quickly for. Nicks made to order.
Worn for multiple time for over 18 hours straight. Weekdays they are on for 10 hours. Fridays and Saturdays they are on for 16 hours plus. A few miles everyday. Trips have included NYC with 15 miles of walking, 8 miles into the woods, and wetlands for 6 hours, and multiple leisure activities.
The leather in all exposed areas has darkened and taken on browns. Every nick and scratch yields fresh, bright yellow green. The patina is overall very varied and visually appealing to me. The break in was rough in the first 15 minutes of each day before the leather warmed up. Initially, the edges of the collar dug in through my socks and caused irritation. Once broken in this was gone.
The HNW in EE at a half size down is the perfect fit for me
The cuts of leather seem ideal to me. The stretch marks and blemishes just add to the aesthetic appeal. The stitching is super clean and everything about the boot seems solid and well placed.
This is a grippy sole in a variety of situations. It preformed surprisingly well in wet and muddy situations.
The block is solidly constructed, well placed, and grippy.
From Nick's the Free Range in Wickett & Craig seems to be a phenomenal value.
