Nicks Handmade Boots
My go to have always been cowboy boots, but I have gotten into PNW work boots over the last few years (Nicks). When Nicks came out with their Palouse western boot I had to have a pair.
I sized these the same as all the rest of my Nick’s boots (7.5 E) on a 55 last. If any of my boots have been a little big I just add a spenco insert…it’s worked out perfect.
The wait was brutal (18 months), but Nick’s has been open and honest about the speed bumps they encountered with this release. They even gave all customers who ordered this boot a $150 refund because of the long wait!
I’ve worn them every day since the beginning of thunderdome. My days have included hunting, hiking, office work, nights on the town…basically everything.
The IBC has a really quick break-in period and quickly molded to my feet. It then held up really well to whatever I’ve thrown at it. Scratches seem to disappear with a little TLC and the leather looks back to new.
The 55 last is my go to for Nick’s boots and it has been perfect as well for the Palouse. I ordered my normal Nick’s size and they fit flawlessly. Zero heel slip.
Nicks took a good while to get their process right on the Palouse, but man did they over deliver. The design, construction, fit and finish is perfection.
I love the vbar sole. It’s not too stiff but holds up very well. It has the perfect amount of traction and doesnt distract from the beauty of the boot.
I’m not a fan of the underslung packer heel. The dogger heel is the exact profile I think a work western boot should have. They ended up looking great.
I have been really surprised that the Palouse had zero heel slip out of the box. I’ve never had a western boot (other than Becks) fit that good.
