Wanted to try a wedge sole and I thought this makeup looked perfect. I also wanted something shorter than my other 10” work boots
I went one size longer and wider than my preferred 55 last. My dad has slightly larger and fuller feet than I do, and had some hnw lasted boots I tried on.
Went to work in a machine shop everyday. I also wore them on a few hikes, and they’re so comfortable on concreted they’re what I reached for attending museums and the zoo and things.
I mostly just brushed weekly. And conditioned at four months. It’s held up fantastically. Break in went really easy, but I think that largely due to the thinner heritage leather and my sizing being dialed. I expected them to burnish and darken from my pants, but oddly it was the exposed lowers parts that darkened.
Feels great. I’m used the the 55, and didn’t find the arch support provided by the hnw to be too little. I find it slightly narrower than the 55 so I tried one width wider. I also have two sizes smaller of upper because my feet are very low volume.
Beautiful and sturdy. I did snap the leather laces in the last month. I’ve snapped three pair, but my very first set has been going for three years.
The original ridges wore off rather quickly, and then the wear slowed significantly. Slick on snow and ice, but not as bad as other wedge soles. I do think it picks up static on polished concrete which is odd.
For my job as a machinist, these are near perfect. They’re still good looking enough to have gone to church and photo shoots, but kept me stable and comfortable at work. As far as nicks goes, they’re the king in my book. This was my fourth pair and won’t be my last. I’ve lost the boot stipend at work, and hope to be able to get another pair to participate next year.
