Nicks
Wickett and Craig Toe Cap - Double Stuffed - MTO
Nicks Handmade Boots
Fell in love with the Nick's Urban Logger last year but wanted to try a different leather. Went with the same model but added a cap toe and went with Wickett and Craig Double Stuffed.
Went with my brannock size as I did with my last pair of Nick's, the are always true to size.
Always a great experience ordering direct from Nick's. They offer a high level of customer service and a great buying experience. I ordered about 30 days later than I wanted to but they still came through and had them to me in time for the dome.
I wore these boots all but 4 days over the six months contest period. Usually had no less than 15 hours per day in this pair. They went on several hikes, went to glass blowing classes, went to a Ray LaMontagne/ Gregory Alan Isakov concert, they hung out with global superstars, they were worn clearing snow, worn to the office, worn in my woodshop, heck even worn during naps. These boots have seen a lot of terrain from the woods to the city streets, from snow to warm sunny days, from dirt to sawdust, and everything in-between. I didn't baby them but they were taken good care of when they got home.
This year I went with a double stuffed leather as opposed to Chrome tanned. I loved the feel of this leather and the quick break in. Though the color didn't change nearly as much as the natural ChromeXL I am very pleased with the overall look of the patina and the way the leather wore. I think the next pair I try will be the oil tanned latigo but as I said I am still very happy with the wear of the double stuffed and the overall look of the patina. I broke this pair in by wearing them everyday to the office, to local festivals and events, and on my woodshop at home. I think over the 6 months period I only missed 4 days in these boots.
As always Nick's nails it with my brannock size. Great fit in all directions, just the right amount of room in the toe box, and the perfect arch for comfort for my foot.
Decided to go with something different this year and added the cap toe. Stitching and craftsmanship was spot on. I was concerned as to how the cap toe would hold up and if it would wrinkle or crease improperly like some other boots that I have had from other manufacturers, it did not, it stood the test and still looks great. As with my past experiences, Nick's finishing and quality control is always spot on. Great pair of boots that wore as they should.
I love the logger heel, not just for functionality but for overall design. I think that it gives the boots a stronger stance and looks really sharp, especially with the aggressive tread offered by the V100 lugs.
I love the V100 lugs. I also purchased a pair of boots similar in style from a different manufacturer and plan to send them to be resoled before I wear them just because they don't look nearly as substantial without the lugs. Last year I chose the V100 honey soles which were great, a little softer step for sure, but they didn't wear nearly as well as this year's black V100 lugs.
This is my second pair of Nick's Urban Logger styled boots. I couldn't be happier to have become a customer and fan of such an amazing American made company producing high quality pieces of functional art. From the ordering process to questions during and after production, Nick's was always there to provide their well known whiteglove customer experience. The fit, feel, and functionality of these boots can not be topped. I highly recommend Nick's loggers to anyone looking for a high end boot from a high class manufacturer.
