I love cowboy boots and wanted to make some. Took a class with Jarrett Van Curen
Modified last to measurements
Worn 2-3x per week. Very comfy when they are the shape of your foot! Have been in the rain and puddles and don’t spot. in dry dirt but not mud, maybe now that the dome is over though :) mostly to office and travel and indoor events. To the rodeo but just the stands, fishing from the dock.
The ostrich was a champ, a little toe scuffage otherwise the vamp just wrinkled, never did any leather care, and soft as a sock.
Well when they’re made for your foot, if they ain’t comfy it’s your foots fault! But these were like houseshoes with a heel
These had much better fit and finish, because I had done a pair before but mostly because they were made under the watchful and patient tutelage of Jarrett Van Curen, one of the best boot makers living and a former high school welding teacher so he knows how to help you stay on track (and keep all your fingers). These were patterned after an old Rusty Franklin boot. Singular cause one fell out of the box in the mail :/
These were a blast to make and I’m working on more back in my own shop. There’s just an unmatched pride and intimacy you feel toward something hardy and beautiful made by and for you. Y’all give Jarrett a call and start your journeys.
