I wanted a versatile Chelsea boot that would both patina gracefully, and look nice with both raw denim and more formal attire.
I have worn these boots basically daily for the last six months. While I do live in a city and work from home, these boots have handled a Canadian winter like champs and have treated me well during walks on pavement and groomed trails.
The leather has held up wonderfully. It has developed a lovely, rich, dark patina while still allowing the grain of the horsebutt to be visible. All of this was achieved with minimal care too. I conditioned these with Saphir Renovateur boots prior to the start of the Thunderdome and once after the worst of winter had subsided here. Other than that, weekly brushing and wiping off salt buildup during the winter was all the care these boots received.
I found the fit to be very comfortable. I was worried as this was my first pair of Chelsea boots, but the last makes sure your feet won’t be slipping out unintentionally.
I thoroughly enjoy the pattern and construction of these boots. They were immaculately finished and displayed clean clicking.
The sole held up very well for being a half sole. It provided enough traction for my use. The only durability concern I have is minor separation of the sole from the midsole ahead of the visible stitching on my right boot.
I think these boots are a fantastic introduction to Chelsea boots. Sizing recommendations were great. The boots have proven to be durable, comfortable, and versatile. While they were my first Chelsea boots, they won’t be my last. I highly recommend them.
