The only constant is…Nick’s.

I scoured Reddit and patina project trying to decide which way to go! I love these boots, but would try other lasts in the future. I provided measurements and the folks at Nick’s were extremely helpful in sizing.

I made a couple changes to the make-up while waiting for the lead time. Nick’s was super helpful in determining what was right for me and making those changes.

I used these for everything. Yardwork and office tasks. Going to basketball games and waiting for my kids at swim practice. Shoveling snow and administering psychological assessments at work. This pair of boots has served me well and been one of the constant comforts in my busy life.

The color has changed in these quite a bit. I only ever used Venetian shoe cream a couple times. I think the patina is relatively subtle and fits me. For me, the break in process was easy. I expected arch pain and blisters but had neither. The CXL did seem to stretch in the width- which was resolved by lacing up a little tighter.

These boots are heavy! And they fit like a glove. While they were never too tight, they really did change and form to my foot (just like everyone talks about). I think when it comes time to resole I’ll go with something less bulky. I wore these many, many days. While not exactly out of place at work, a lower profile would probably be more expected. Standing, these boots offer more than enough support. When I first received them, I expected the break in process to be more uncomfortable. I do think the Natural CXL may have stretched a little too far in the width, but maybe I’m being too picky. I’d buy another pair, but they’re so sturdy I don’t think I’ll ever have to.

Lots of traction- maybe more than I need. But the honey lug looks so good with natural cxl! And it feels like I’m walking in air…

My life is busy. Sometimes it feels like there is “no room for me” in my life. These boots were with me for the past 7 months to remind me that I care about quality. I am passionate about doing things the right way. I value taking care of myself when I can. At the risk of sounding cheesy, these boots from Nick’s reminded me who I am during a relatively stressful time in my life.
