Wore these for most life activities the last six months. Casual wear, some outdoor work, traveling, and whatever else I had going on day-to-day.
Leather break-in was minimal if there was any at all. Was very pliable right off the bat. The leather took on a lot of colour from indigo denim, water marks, or even a little bit of purple marking dye from the farm. It darkened quite a bit over time, and the very high use areas around the welt are sort of a reddish -brown colour now. Very interesting leather.
I gave all my measurements to Grant at Unsung. Not sure if it was a custom last they did or if they fit me into a stock size but either way these are my best fitting and most comfortable boots. No heel slip, snug but comfortable waist, and enough toe room. Slight arch support which feels nice.
When I first got these in, I remarked at how nicely they were crafted. Everything looked extremely well done, very clean stiching, cutting, etc, and it was clearly obvious that the attention to detail was very high. Very impressive boots.
No issues. A bit slick in the winter months but what sole really isn't... I did lose one of the brass top taps around month five, I'll either have a new one put on at resole time or just swap to a full sole without taps. I really do like them though!
Same comments as the sole.
Great pair of boots. Unsung was great to work with for getting the fit right, and they were able to accommodate some custom requests such as the toe taps. They also came with their stamp on the inside, which is a nice touch. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied!
