Baker's Boots and Clothing
This was a custom bakers bounty hunter. I got them on ebay and was very happy with the choices the seller had selected. The entire boot is lines with canyon red leather. All the wat from the top to toe. I really wanted to try unstructured LTT and was happy with the choice. The comfort was great. Chromexcel had been suggested to me by the cobblers at Unsung when I described my desire for a work leather that could handle the briars and unkempt forest conditions I work in as a surveyor.
These are a 10d. My brannock is a 10d/e. These boots are a little.long but the width is right. Because they are unstructured toe, the leather at the toe was able to bend in a way that worked best for my foot shape within the boot and account for the length.
I ordered these on ebay and was happy with the discount I got on new boots in comparison to how much the seller originally paid. I paid 550, seller had paid 794 originally Took advantage of his missize mistake
I am a land surveyor. And I primarily wore these on days I worked I the field. I have to survey over pavement, grass fields, forests and thick unkept underbrush. I have to walk through thorns and briars often and am walking in tall grass often. These things cause rapid wear on boots. I have worked on days outside with pouring rain and I have worked on hillsides made of only rip rap (rock).
I chose this leather based on the suggestion from the guys at Unsung. I asked them what leather could take the abuse i see in my work as a land surveyor, and then could be easily brushed up to be presentable in the office. This leather has been up to this task. If I brush the cxl, most of the wear gets buffed out and if I add even light conditioner like bick 4, they return to a nearly new uniform look. This brown cxl was of higher quality, thickness and durability than the brown cxl I had on my wesco jobmasters
The 55 last seems to really work for me. These are a 10d and arena little long so I am considering getting them rebuilt to 9.5ee. The width at 10d is perfect and would want to keep that with reducing the length. I am a 10d/e brannock The arch support was rough for the first month but after getting them broken in, the LTT unstructured toe really allowed for a super custom fit
These boots really feel like the pinnacle that a work boot can achieve. They are very high quality and look very sharp while being able to handle some of the very rugged conditions I work in.
This sole is really a compromise. It has a lower and sleeker profile to it which makes it more acceptable in situations outside of the field worl they are primarily used for. The grip on them is at times lacking but because of the heel being basically one large lug I never had a slip and fall while working in these. I really like the quabug heel on these.
I am very happy with these boots to the point that it makes it hard for me to consider adding another work boot to my collection. It really performs well in my work conditions and I can clean them up with minimal effort to make them acceptable for when I have office days. I've worn them casually to go to a party or go to a restaurant and they didn't feel like overkill mostly due to how chromexcel can clean up and the mini lug sole having a less aggressive profile. I am considering having these rebuilt to 9.5ee but am happy with thr comfort and fit in these at this point so may just wait to do that until a full resole is needed.
