If by "makeup" you mean build choices, then....in no particular order.... 1. My feet are happiest in White's Arch-ease lasts. Don't ask me how much I spent learning this. 2. Cinnamon Waxed Flesh was and is an all-time favorite leather. 3. Lace-to-toe is king for fit, comfort, support, and anesthetics. There is something wrong with the lacing spaces on the plain toe to my eye. 4. Black eye with speed hooks and black laces is 🔥 hot. 5. Split sole v-tread is key for style. 6. Calfskin white liner is next level comfort, ease, and classic. 7. Rolled top is better in a photo, but I went with the more comfortable cut top. 8. 10" is better for support in a variety of activities, and low-cut boots look and feel wrong to me. 9. Ladder lacing is quick, stable, allows for movement as feet expand and contract throughout wearing, and looks badass.
Fit by a couple of White's professionals in person. Tested in actual Handstitched and stitchdown builds. Using flex tape for circumference at several points on both feet, ankles, and lower legs. As well as being measured using a Brannock device. I have a hi-arch that is also very flexible in compression. It was not a one-stop fit, I am learning about my feet still. If I had to attribute one event to learning the most about my size I would say it was the in person pro-team at White's.
Super easy, Bakershoe.com, emailed updates throughout process, flawless. Arrived and best fitting boots right out of the box.
Demolition, construction, car repair, motor rebuild, yard maintenance, painting, pouring concrete, rock and mortar, hiking, air travel, and the list goes on.
The leather, CINNAMON Waxed Flesh is pliable without stretching, durable without weight, forgiving to accidents, dynamic in appearance and texture. The color changes continually.
Slippers. Vacuum formed ski boots. Perfect. Literally the best fitting shoes I own, I exercise/fitness in these, hope that helps.
Great build, Mr. Kinney at White's informed me that one builder handled all the boots for Bakershoe.com. He's a Magician, evident in the perfect fit from day one, no bs. Thanks to Horween for the alchemy to produce a product that has me transfixed when I look at my boots. Words diminish my attempt to clarify the "badass" quality of this leather. Form fitting design, proportions are balanced, both comfort and function. Great fit as the sides never mushroomed out. Think about that! CWF doesn't stretch. Durable: Demolition, construction, car repair, motor rebuild, yard maintenance, painting, pouring concrete, rock and mortar, hiking, air travel, and the list goes on. The eyes are all doing well, but the black paint on a couple of hooks have scraped off. This was expected, and I actually like the brass tops shining through. I prefer warn over pretty looking work boots. Lining, calfskin lining uppers! Didn't stain socks easy to remove, and added support. Stitching is all intact on the uppers, with no loose threads. Heels, heel stack, and split sole, held up to shivel digging in clay and gravel. V-tread soles were sticking on an 8/12 roof 35 degrees, even while wet. Love abound!
The best thing I can say is I was safe and secure on a 35-degree pitched roof, held up to the crystals of the shingles tearing at the toe. The biggest thing is how easy it is to clean off the mud. Heavy lug boots take a back seat on this measure. Now I'm not sure when I need a heavy lug, and I want to resole my old lugs to v-tread. There is more flex and less weight in the v-tread than black lug. It's easily as comfortable, if not more so.
If you are a wildland hotshot/ smokejumper/fireman, then Cinnamon Waxed Flesh is not worth it. If you want a fantastic experience in a waxed flesh leather, don't hesitate to choose CWF. Before this experience, I never would have believed that this leather would be durable. General construction is well within the range of this leather. Cleaning amounted to knocking the soles off with a brush (if)I had interior work. Twice in six months I wet wiped with a rag and dry clean cloth. Washed a total of (ONCE) with suds and dried in the sun after a day of week of concrete and mortar work. I thoroughly neglected these boots. I wore them every day. That is the beginning and the end of my involvement. How do you place a value on quality? How could I not recommend these? Thanks, Ben and the team at the Patina Project for dreaming and allowing us in on the ride. What a trip!
